Position Summary

The role of the Maintenance Manager is to increase overall equipment reliability with minimal downtime and support optimal efficiency through the successful execution of the maintenance plan and schedule. This role is also responsible for executing all reactive maintenance work and resolving complex troubleshooting while maximizing workforce efficiency.


General Responsibilities

  • The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance crew by assigning scheduled jobs based on priorities and machine opportunities.
  • Manage the repair, upkeep, and refurbishment of all associated manufacturing equipment (large tonnage injection molding machines, extruders, robots, branding equipment, additional support and auxiliary equipment, building and facility, etc.).
  • Discuss with all shift technicians the job expectation for the day based on work orders assigned in CMMS, and touch base regarding quality, procedures, adjustments, tolerances, cleanness, and safety awareness job by job basis.
  • Verify the accomplishment and execution of the scheduled work orders, validate and correct quality, and coach technicians in deviation to expectations or improvements for future work orders.
  • Manage Emergencies or Breakdowns directly by giving them the highest priority, resource allocation, participation in troubleshooting, following the escalation process and requesting parts or quality solutions that warranty reliability and production continuation.
  • Oversee execution of outside contractors’ maintenance work to comply with plant safety and reliability standards, approving work completion and invoicing.
  • Participate in the scoping of the work orders to ensure effective planning and procurement of the resources.
  • Create and coordinate the weekly maintenance schedule for maintenance technicians to ensure maximum workforce utilization. Including corrective work orders and preventive maintenance following national standards.
  • Manage and develop maintenance technicians by establishing career goals, providing coaching, training and measuring performance.
  • Oversee the effectiveness of the maintenance department by setting plans which align with increasing overall equipment reliability to meet direct goals like downtime or indirect goals like cycle efficiency and scrap percentage.
  • Work diligently with all departments to find permanent solutions to reoccurring problems or issues. Participate or lead RCA (root cause analysis) of downtime events using the A3 process.
  • Support the development of engineering initiatives, including automated processes.
  • Maintain a positive approach in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment that works 24/7, including support to be on-call and available for specific operations or projects
  • Use the inventory of spare parts when reasonably understanding budget commitments. Foment a culture of discipline in the inventory process to maintain a positive stock of spares.

Qualifications

  • SMRP/Reliability Engineering certification or minimum 5 years of technical industrial service experience
  • Experience of minimum 2 years with leading teams of technicians in 24/7 multiple shifts
  • Injection molding experience preferred. Specific experience with Krauss Maffei machines is a plus
  • Experience with Robots and automation
  • Strong industrial electrical knowledge in 480VAC, 120VAC, 24VDC circuits, PLC experience desired.
  • Strong hydraulic knowledge in large ton presses up to 5000 psi, with multiple pumps and manifolds.
  • Knowledge of computer software, such as Microsoft Office and various ERP & CMMS software
  • Experience with Lean Enterprise, including 5S, kaizen, Kanban, visual controls, root cause analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Emphasis on & knowledge of safe work practices required (OSHA, NEC, etc.)
  • Experience and Knowledge with Reliability Systems like RCM, RCA, P&S, KPI, CA, FRACAS, and FMEA.
  • Experience with Predictive maintenance practices, desired but not required.
