We have an exciting opportunity open for a Meter Shop Tech in Maumelle, AR.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Test residential and commercial meters in a timely and accurate measurement of energy consumption in compliance with regulatory obligations. Testing the meters includes, but is not limited to, operation of provers, troubleshooting capabilities, and testing for leaks. Performs all aspects for adjustments made to meters processed in the meter shop.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes testing of residential and commercial meters.
- Possesses knowledge of correlation procedures.
- Tests for leaks and inspection of Commercial Meters and Regulators.
- Adjust meters to increase the accuracy dependent on company policies and regulations.
- Works with tools ranging from manual, battery operated, pneumatic, and mechanical.
- Rotates to various stations in the shop as needed to meet the daily demands to completely process the meters.
- Ensures appropriate configuration and inspection for instrumentation equipment.
- Programs, installs, and inspects Encoder Receiver Transmitters (ERTs).
- Maintains inventory at work area.
- Maintains neat and orderly work area.
- Loads and unloads Cargo baskets and/or pallets containing new and repaired meters.
- Operates and maintains paint booth.
- Paints meters as necessary.
- Operates forklift as necessary.
- Safely operates company trucks as required.
- Enters meter data, test data, and employee data (i.e., user information, time entry) via computers, tablets, or other handheld devices.
- Performs other miscellaneous assignments including shop maintenance and assisting with shipping logistics.
- Must demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and take all required training courses.
- Must demonstrate respect for all individuals and adhere to the Company’s P.E.A.K. values and business practices.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education and Work Experience:
- Requires a high school education or the equivalent knowledge of English, basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculation of fractions and/or percentages), grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Work experience in natural gas is preferred but not a requirement.
Skills:
- Regular contact with employees, requiring average tact and diplomacy using good communication skills.
- Apply basic math skills.
- Flexibility relative to changing priorities.
- Use personal computer software proficiently, such as Word, Excel.
- Able to provide a valid state driver's license and present and maintain a good driving record and to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Apply knowledge of industry and company safety standards and regulations.
- Demonstrate an aptitude for basic mechanical tasks.
- Pass and maintain forklift certification.
