This position provides mental health education and prevention initiatives to the OSU community of students, faculty, and staff in the areas of resilience building, holistic wellness, and suicide prevention.

This position is responsible for program development, planning, implementation, as well as evaluation/assessment. Comprehensive program development will be based on analysis of trends and mental health needs, and this position will prepare reports for leadership as needed. This position will serve as a campus and community mental health resource as appropriate.

Specific responsibilities include: coordinating and facilitating the development and execution of campus-wide mental health wellness programming. These programs shall integrate academic learning with individual student development, while fostering individual, interpersonal, and community wellness.

Working closely with professionals at University Counseling Services, University Health Services, other Student Affairs and Academic Affairs units, and Human Resources, in crafting meaningful and effective education strategies. Creating mental health education and training events throughout the academic year. Working with departmental marketing teams to coordinate events and messaging.

Develop and deliver resilience building programming. Organizing and delivering Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) and Talk Saves Lives suicide prevention training events and Mental Health First Aid training as requested.

Provide guidance and involvement with Active Minds Student Organization, Peer Education programs, Student Government Association, and other relevant student organizations.

Plans and executes multidisciplinary mental health prevention programming within the OSU-Stillwater Community.

This position will occasionally work evening and weekends.

Education & Experience



Position Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, Public Health, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.

Four years of experience with health prevention programming.

Mental Health First Aid and Suicide Prevention Instructor certification within 90 days of hire.

Excellent organizational and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft office suite. Excellent interpersonal skills, and proficient public speaker. Ability to work with little supervision. Able to discuss sensitive topics with students using professional discretion and in a non-threatening atmosphere. Must utilize good judgment and exercise independent thought processes in all job duties, and in the supervision of student staff and graduate assistants.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, Public Health, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.

Licensed Counselor, Mental Health First Aid Instructor, QPR Instructor, and/or Talk Saves Lives Instructor.
