GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under direction of Director, Medical Staff Affairs for Beaumont Health, act as a resource to Medical Staff Office staff at Beaumont Hospital and work collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure effective communication and coordination of medical staff activities and serve as the liaison between Medical Staff and Hospital Administration. Provide administrative support and necessary resources to the Attending Staff and to select Medical Staff Committees and Departments enabling them to fulfill their duties and obligations as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Provides support to physicians and Medical Staff committees and department meetings enabling them to fulfill their duties and obligations as outlined in the Medical Staff By-laws and Rules and Regulations.
2. Functions as a resource for information regarding medical staff organization, bylaws, rules and regulations, state and federal regulatory agencies to ensure that compliance is maintained with all accrediting and regulatory standards applicable to Medical Staff functions.
3. Participates in planning and coordinating on-going Joint Commission/CMS readiness activities; interacts with surveyors to demonstrate compliance with standards.
4. Coordinates completion of reports for MPRO, Blue Cross, and other healthcare entities to comply with federal, state and local regulations.
5. Assist with the credentialing/re-credentialing process, as needed.
6. Work collaboratively with Medical Staff leadership and act as a liaison with hospital Department Chairs, Credentials and Medical Executive Committee members, medical staff members, applicants, allied health professionals and hospital employees to facilitate positive physician-administrative relationships.
7. Maintain accurate and current demographic data for practitioners in physician database and communicate with IT Department to ensure hospital-wide accuracy and integrity of data; provide data files from credentialing system as requested; maintains current, confidential professional staff credentials, departmental and committee files.
8. Assist with managing and administering Medical Administration and Medical Staff budget in compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations and consistent with the organization’s financial goals and objectives, including collection of annual dues medical staff and/or department dues.
9. Provide administrative support to Medical Staff leadership, as assigned, in preparing materials and communications directly related to the work of the department or committee.
10. Schedules meetings; agendas and meeting arrangements; takes minutes for selected Medical Staff committees and department meetings; completes all related correspondence; provides management with meeting minutes and related correspondence.
11. Facilitate onboarding for new physicians to the Medical Staff.
12. Performs other duties and functions as directed by Director, Medical Staff Affairs or Chief Medical Officer.

A. Education / Training:
- Associates degree or equivalent work experience; knowledge of federal, state and Joint Commission credentialing and accreditation standards; working knowledge of general medical terminology.
A. Work Experience:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in a Medical Staff Services Department or related healthcare experience.
B. Certification, Licensure, Registration:

- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal; well-organized, self-motivated with ability to work independently with little or no supervision; ability to maintain strictest confidentiality and appreciation for the sensitivity of peer review and credentialing information; possess strong analytic abilities; demonstrate daily problem solving skills, conflict resolution and decision making ability, and social skills to positively represent the Department to the Medical Staff, Administration and customers. Advanced computer skills required. Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including computer applications, online resources and equipment utilized by the program, department and institution in relation to credentialing.
