Transend MSO, Inc. provides administrative support to New Oakland Family Centers, a comprehensive behavioral health and substance abuse provider for consumers across Michigan, in both outpatient and partial hospitalization settings.

Location: Southfield Center

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, or another full-time equivalent

Reports To: President / Chief Financial Officer / Director of Finance / Supervisor

Compensation: Hourly Employee. Commensurate with experience.

Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Billing Associate assists with account management, working in the EMR system to process statements, post payments, providing explanation of benefits, and may assist in supporting other departments if necessary.

Essential Duties / Functions:

• Post consumer and insurance payments (both electronic files and paper sources)
• Follow-up on rejected, unpaid or incorrectly processed claims.
• Accurately post denial codes and communicate denials with relevant staff
• Process secondary claim files (both electronic and paper claims)
• Analyze and process Explanations of Benefits
• Work closely and communicate with clinical staff and Insurance Follow-Up team to effectively and efficiently billing issues
• Verify Insurances for copayments
• Communicate progress with Chief Financial Officer, VP, and other staff
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Proficiency working in EMR systems, with insurance companies, and with Excel and other Office products.

• Must have at least one year of behavioral health or medical billing/collections experience
• Knowledge of behavioral health benefits, coding, insurance plans and relevant guidelines
• Ability to read EOBs, RAs and denial codes
• Ability to navigate our EMR system to produce accurate and usable data
