Three Rivers Spine & Pain Medicine is an interventional pain management clinic currently hiring a medical assistant who is well-versed in getting insurance authorization for medical procedures/advanced imagining.

PRIMARY JOB: Obtain necessary insurance authorization for spinal procedures and advanced imaging studies through the submission of medical records, images, and phone conversations with insurers. Responsible for timely verification of medical insurance benefits, calling private insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid to obtain benefit information, and determining insurance compatibility with health care provider. Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to payer and regulatory guidelines for medical insurance claims processing and reimbursement. Prepares and submits pre-certification/authorization requests as needed based on insurance requirements. Contacts patients to review their financial obligations. EHR documentation of correspondence with the patient/family, doctor's office or insurance company. Uploads medical documents into patient accounts Scheduling new patients Occasional cross coverage of clinical duties such as rooming patients, collecting urine specimens for lab, charting and maintenance of EHR, and front desk duties. The successful candidate MUST have prior knowledge of clinical medicine, insurance companies, medication authorizations, CPT codes, ICD codes, and EMR systems.
