Medical Assistant - North Suffolk Cardiology

We are looking for a qualified member to join our team at North Suffolk Cardiology as Medical Assistant. The applicant will work rotating shifts 4 days a week, Mon-Fri, between the hours of 7am to 7pm (8 hours per day), for a total work week of 40 hours.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting physicians, and advanced practice providers and nurses in providing patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains vital signs, weights, and EKGs when needed, and all other tests within the scope of the practice.
  • Assist with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas. Assists in escorting patients throughout the facility.
  • Ensures chart is available, with relevant lab work and test reports if indicated, for the physician when the physician sees the patient.
  • Stocks exam room/treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms. Notify your Lead/Assistant Supervisor when supplies are low.
  • Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patient. Assists with light housekeeping duties which include spills.
  • Assures completion of patient charges in accordance with our policy.
  • Assists patient with toileting, ambulating and maintaining comfort.
  • Assists physicians with procedures (e.g. stress test, stress echocardiogram, all medical exams).
  • Cleans and sterilizes designated equipment after use.
  • Answers telephone in treatment area
  • Assists patients and communicate with Physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
  • Helping maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or the equivalent.
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution American Medical Technologies (AMT); National Center for Competency Testing
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong aptitude for detail, and the ability to work independently, required.
  • Electronic Health Record knowledge.
  • Flexible and adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment.

In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) order that all hospitals and nursing homes “continuously require all covered personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.” Upon receipt of a conditional job offer, candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. The order allows for limited medical exemptions with reasonable accommodations, consistent with applicable law.

Physical Demands:

The job may require from time to time to lift light to moderate amounts of weight (e.g., boxes of medical/facility supplies). Heavy computer use required.
