HOURS: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
MEDICAL ASSISTANT DESCRIPTION: A nonexempt position responsible for performing various tasks within a private multi-specialty practice. Daily duties may involve clinical and administrative assignments, including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
JOB DUTIES:
- Clinical Responsibilities- Completing forms, Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests, Preparing and administering vaccinations as directed by a physician, managing vaccine inventory, Phlebotomy, and Performing electrocardiograms. Helping enter clinical information into the EMR system.
- Administrative Duties- Verify patient identification and billing information, prep clinic areas, obtain test results, update charts, confirm insurance, schedule appointments, operate office machinery, managing patient vaccine records.
- Cleaning exam rooms, ordering and stocking supplies and restocking exam rooms, cleaning exam tables, maintaining a safe work environment by checking for expired supplies and medications, emptying sharps containers, etc.
- Other Duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures
- Skill in performing medical assistant workflow tasks and skill at interpersonal interactions
- Ability to learn, project a pleasant and professional image, prioritize and complete delegated tasks, and demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/ PREFERENCES:
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
- High school or GED graduation is required.
- Phlebotomy skills required
- eClinicalWorks experience preferred
- EPIC experience preferred
LICENSURE/ CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: BLS required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must work under time pressures in a busy clinic/office environment.
- Must be present on site for 8-hour shifts during standard business hours.
- Must participate in group activities requiring interpersonal skills & cooperation.
- Must work as a late person when scheduled or according to business needs.
- Must be able to react quickly and immediately respond to emergencies.
- Must be able to handle multiple assignments, conflicting demands & priorities.
- Must maintain attention to detail over an extended period.
- Must be continually aware of variations in changing situations.
Experience: At least one year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy and EKG experience in a clinical setting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
