Job description
- As a medical assistant you will assist providers in the administration of patient care in assigned clinical areas. Performs medical assistant duties such as vitals, health history, medications, setting up and assisting in procedures that are performed in an OB/Gyn setting.
- Performs visit chart preparation activities based on the daily scheduled appointments and anticipate care information to support provider visit.
- Performs rooming activities for provider visits according to the documented rooming criteria including chief complaint, allergies, vital signs and medication list review. Document in chart in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform venipuncture procedures (as needed) and process specimens as outlined in policies and procedures.
- Places orders & appropriate diagnosis in the EMR (Epic) per provider direction during a provider visit.
- Performs proper sterilization of instruments according to policies and procedures.
- Administers medications and immunizations including oral and injectables.
- Communicate with patients in a timely, courteous and professional manner using oral, written or electronic means.
- Reinforces patient/family education.
- Maintains and stocks all clinical areas and keeps orderly.
- Manages clinical supplies and medication sample areas to ensure that stock is current, stored appropriately, labeled and par levels maintained.
- Participates and supports quality and regulatory activities.
- Supports teamwork and professional relationships within the organization.'
