Medical Assistant
Job description
Medical assistants provide direct assistance to the providers as well as perform duties requested by the executive director, medical director, and nursing director.
Schedule will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Duties include
· obtain and record height, weight, and vital signs
· Screening Patients at the door
· perform in-house lab testing (i.e. Strep test, Flu test, UA’s)
· Prepare lab samples for pick-up per laboratory protocol and company
· assist with procedures as requested
· Ensure all care guidelines are completed as required within your scope of practice
· train as back-up for nursing staff in case of absence
· keep exam rooms stock with necessary supplies
· clean and sterilize instruments
· perform routine tasks under the supervision of nursing and provider staff
· set up equipment
· store and move supplies
· set up exam rooms for patient visits
· clean exam rooms after each patient use and at end of day
· monitor biohazard box, and empty per company protocol
· Go over next day’s schedule to assure any supplies or instruments needed.
· perform other duties as assigned
· Attendance and Punctuality
Experience: One or more years of medical assistant experience preferable in a center/clinic setting and have excellent clinical and customer services skills. Skilled in provide on-going patient care. Qualified candidates must have experience performing injections on infants and adults and phlebotomy. Must possess the ability to identifying problems and recommend solutions. Skills in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence are required, as well as Skills in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public are imperative.
