Job Overview

The Mechanic Building Grounds I is responsible for completing scheduled and non-scheduled work as directed by the building maintenance supervisor. Work includes but is not limited to grounds keeping, painting, cleaning externally, restocking paper products, and general recycling equipment maintenance. This position also assists the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic when needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and upkeep of property grounds are maintained throughout the day by performing duties including but not limited to removal of trash, changing flag, checking traps, maintaining the lawn, and painting externally and internally
  • Restocks paper products and verifies housekeeping supply inventory and submits replenishment orders to predefined par levels monthly
  • Performs recycling Equipment Maintenance to ensure the proper functioning and avoid unnecessary downtime
  • Assists and completes tasks assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Mechanically inclined (i.e. metalworking, creative solutions, etc.)
  • General experience repairing and maintaining electrical, plumbing and HVAC fixtures
  • Basic carpentry, painting and custodial skills
  • Good communicator
  • Skilled at troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Task oriented and disciplined with using computerized maintenance management systems to drive prioritization and completion of assigned tasks
  • Customer service driven

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge acquired through up to 12 months of work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Industrial, Structural), Construction or Facilities Management experience

Work Environment

Noisy, wet, and extreme temperature environment
