Essential:
High school diploma
Holds or has ability/willingness to attain a Class A CDL (Commercial Driver s License).
Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Capable of maintaining a functioning fleet of tractors and trailers
Employment eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the U.S. MCC offers of employment are subject to a successful criminal background check(s).
Preferred:
At least 2 years of CDL driving experience.
Diesel mechanic certification or specialized diesel mechanical training.
1-3 years’ experience with MCC's mobile cannery.
1-3 years food safety experience.
Holds or has ability/willingness to attain a Forklift certification
Experience in general building and equipment maintenance.
Effective communication and leadership skills.

Canning Coordination (50%).
Fleet Coordination (20%).
Specific Tasks and Duties:
Material Resource Coordination: In collaboration with the Warehouse Coordinator and with other MRC staff, coordinate operations at the MCC Material Resources Center (MRC) in Ephrata, PA, including but not limited to the following:
a) Load and unload shipments.
b) Pick up and deliver material resources and items for recycling.
c) Operate fork-lift (upon certification).
d) Coordinate canned meat incubation activities when the Warehouse Manager is unavailable.
e) Communicate with USDA inspectors.
f) Deliver and pick up containers at the port.
g) General building, electrical, & equipment maintenance for the warehouse and offices.
h) Other maintenance and grounds keeping.
i) Provide timely reports to the Canning and Trucking Director and Ephrata MRC Manager as needed and requested.
Canning Coordination: Provide technical and logistical support to the MCC mobile cannery, including but not limited to the following:
a) Coordinate the day-to-day functions of the mobile cannery.
b) Develop and maintain HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) plans and records.
c) Communicate with USDA-FSIS inspectors.
d) Provide initial and ongoing training of Canner Operators and canning committees.
e) Provide support and coordination for Canner Operators
f) Provide leadership and support when the Canning and Trucking Director is unavailable.
g) Develop logistics plans for canning supplies and products and other material resource items
h) Order, deliver, and collect canning supplies and products and other material resource items including coordinating with freight haulers and volunteer drivers to and from multiple U.S. regions.
i) Assess and arrange for maintenance and repairs of all mobile cannery components (retorts, seamer, boiler, grinder/chunker, etc.
j) Perform other MCC Mobile Cannery tasks.
k) Visit, assess, and improve canning locations.
l) Perform other mobile cannery tasks as assigned by the Canning and Trucking Director.
m) Represent MCC at various functions, such as canning committee meetings, and canning locations, etc.
n) Provide timely reports to the Canning and Trucking Director as needed and requested.
Fleet Coordination: Coordinate or complete operations of the MCC canning fleet (tractors, trailers, and vehicles), including but not limited to the following:
a) Create and track the trucking budget and authorize expenses in a timely manner.
b) Mechanical maintenance of the fleet.
c) Coordinate major repairs, purchases, and improvements to the fleet.
d) Maintain or delegate all fleet regulatory and program requirements including but not limited to IFTA fuel taxes, apportioned registration, Federal and State inspections, E-logging program, fuel programs, heavy use vehicle taxes, and waste hauler certification. Ensure that all these regulatory documents are submitted accurately to the appropriate regulatory agencies and on file in designated areas.
e) Report accidents or unsafe conditions immediately to the Canning and Trucking Director.
f) Submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
g) Provide timely reports to the Canning and Trucking Director as needed and requested.
Supervision: This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities. Position regularly advises MRC Staff and Canner Operators on material resources, canning, and fleet operations.
Travel expectations: Up to 50% including day trips and 41-50 nights away per year.
Physical Activity/Demands:
a) Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another.
b) Occasionally ascending or descending stairs/ladders or the like.
c) Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
d) Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
e) Constantly operating machinery and/or power tools; operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
f) This position is occasionally noisy, has poor ventilation, is in small and or enclosed spaces and may deal with hazardous conditions.
g) Exposure to outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind in high or low temperatures.
Other duties as assigned on a temporary basis.
