Job Description
As a Material Handler, you will perform the physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment. You will unpack and check goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods and rejects unsatisfactory items. You will report to the Manager, Logistics and work onsite in Houston, TX.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift
- Prepare and maintain records of merchandise shipped
- Post weights and shipping charges and prepares goods for final shipment
- Examines, stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines and may prepare kitting packages for assembly production
- Assist shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders and distributing to sales associates for processing.
- Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and shipped.
- Moving materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
- Sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Filling requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to shipping or to designated route driver storage area.
- Ensuring warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic.
- Marking materials with identifying information using appropriate method.• Recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
- Weighing and counting items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds.
