Job Title: Material & Production Planning

Summary:

  • Responsible for developing the master production plan to satisfy customer demand, while carrying minimum effective inventory.
  • The qualified individual will be responsible for providing the plant with a monthly production plan consistent with the plant capacity and sales forecast.
  • The planner is responsible for determining the desired inventory levels for finished goods by providing packaging quantities and proper packaging material planning.
  • The sales forecasts, new business opportunities, customer expectations, and internal supply constraints will be used to develop production plans, by month, for a rolling three-month period.
  • Strong collaboration with the Business Managers, Operations, Sales, Customer Service and Management will be critical to meeting business goals.

Production Planning Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for order delivery/scheduling as well as sequencing and order confirmation to the customers expected requirement planning.
  • Responsible for scheduling equipment to meet customer delivery requirements and obligations.
  • Meet the goal of 100% attainment to schedule with customer acknowledgement of delivery dates, that meet the customer requirements related to delivery performance.
  • Responsible for scheduling to maintain RAW, WIP and finished goods controls within the guidelines of financial total inventory.
  • Utilize the production capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, and new business opportunities.
  • Ensure coordination with supervisors to execute Production Plan on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Plan. Identify gaps and drive solutions, including a metric on production performance to the requested production schedule.
  • Review sales forecast with sales and operation teams on a weekly/monthly basis and suggest modifications consistent with knowledge of current or historical demand.

Material Planning Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for decision of material ordering within proper inventory rules to improve inventory turns base lines that are aligned with scheduling requirements to meet 100% on time shipment.
  • Responsible for procurement of manufacturing supplies, raw materials and MRO items.
  • Works closely with Quality and Shipping and Receiving Departments to ensure proper receipt of materials.
  • Traces delinquent arrivals from purchase orders and follows supplier delinquent reports.
  • Provides quarterly supplier scorecards related to Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Works closely with accounting to ensure accuracy in three (3) way match; invoices, purchase orders and receipts.
  • Responsible for monthly cycle counts with audits of all raw materials.
  • Develop a new supply source where vendors are inadequate.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: (essential to the position)

Education Level: (minimum)

  • BA/BS degree or AS degree Preferred and/or 5 yrs of commensurate experience in a scheduling role in a similar industry

Preferred Areas of Study:

  • Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operation Research
  • Experience in managing manufacturing processes, productivity, and efficiency measurements
  • Experience using MRP / ERP systems, especially Advance Planning Systems
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP)

Similar or Related Experience Desired:

  • 5 years in Master Scheduling and/or Inventory Control

Essential Skills/Knowledge:

  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reason and influence at all levels.
  • Strong positive written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in MS office applications.

Starting annual salary will be based on relevant experience and knowledge!
