Position Overview:

The Marketing Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating a variety of departmental initiatives, with a primary focus on executing a multi-channel digital platform marketing and communications strategies, including public relations, patron and audience engagement, journalists, critics, and writers.

This position works with the Marketing, leadership, and company stakeholders in formalizing the content and the execution of communication strategies. Working collaboratively, they will develop and shape communication channels, while utilizing industry standards and emerging tools to engage constituents and stakeholders.

The Marketing Coordinator will be expected to have strong skills in the areas of writing, visual storytelling, and must be able to translate dance eccentric research and information for the audience.

Candidate must be fully proficient with the skills and understanding of the following, including, but not limited to: Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and All Social Media Platforms, Mail Chimp. Prior experience working on a wide range of marketing functions including branding, communications, advertising, ecommerce, digital marketing, website, content creation is required. Digital Photography is a plus. The workplace is PC based.

The position designs and executes communications plans for a diverse set of priorities in support of strategic initiatives. This includes drafting communications, sourcing imagery, and managing distribution with diverse channel owners. The role should also use their understanding of storytelling, publishing, design, photography, videography, and infographics to create engaging content for a diverse and global audience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Working with the Marketing Director on developing company press releases.
  • Develop engaging content through to final release of a monthly e-newsletter.
  • Develop pitches for interesting and successful story lines.
  • Distribute press releases to existing press database and actively adding and editing the database.
  • Preparing press packs for performances/events.
  • Utilize the Company’s email distribution platforms (Mailchimp and Prospect2) to create, alongside the Marketing team, email marketing campaigns promoting and advertising company performances, events, and programs.
  • Working with Marketing Department on social media content generation and strategy, as well as monitoring social media, for potential PR opportunities and/or problems.
  • Working with IT & Database Officer on website content creation & updates and developing content for live site for build out in coordination with other departments and stake holders.
  • Providing proofing and editing services to the Marketing department.
  • Use channel expertise to devise plans and strategies to utilize online, digital/mobile channels that drive awareness and engagement.
  • Digital content development – including, but not limited to social media advertisement materials, website, e-blasts, and other assets as needed.
  • Liaising with Corporate Sponsors to create advertising for programs and ensure adherence to contracted deliverables.
  • Coordinate merchandise including transport to and from events and sales staff at performance and restocking inventory and fulfilling web orders as needed.
  • Assist with graphic development as needed to accomplish departmental projects.
  • Works with leadership to review and refine proposals.
  • Coordination with the Development team for the inclusion of all sponsorship recognition
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of the creative intent of the Directors and manage workflow to meet objectives.
  • Working with the Marketing team to curate content and monitor social media strategies.
  • Adhere to organization Code of Legal and Ethical Behavior, which require all employees, consultants, board members, volunteers, and affiliates to perform their responsibilities according to ethical and legal standards with honesty, integrity, fairness, good faith and respect for others and the law.
  • Follows all organization policy and procedures and demonstrates continuous regard to personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Performs other appropriate job-related activities as requested by your supervisor or as circumstances warrant and other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to develop presentation materials and to communicate effectively to a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to write both fact based, creatively and represent the brand through written content.
  • Software literate in the Microsoft suite and other standard administrative software
  • Strong creative writer with experience in internal communications, journalism, digital platforms, marketing, in a performing arts industry preferred.
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tool knowledge.
  • Proactive, with a strong ability to self-motivate and self-manage.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Be able to handle potentially difficult situations/communications with professionalism, calm, and understanding.
  • Able to work well in a team environment, manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the flexibility to adapt and enact changes.
  • Knowledge of Word Press and Mailchimp are desired.
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and a great attention to detail.
  • The ability to effectively translate directive into content, as well as the ability to listen and fully understand flexible design changes.
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments and outside organizations.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or obtain an approved exemption.

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in communications - communications department, newspaper, magazine, or internal communication agency with a primary focus on written content for digital/mobile communications.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or other relevant fields.
  • Strong proof-reading, subbing, and editing skills
  • Editorial experience
  • Experience in managing and developing online channels
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills
