Phoenix Manufacturing, a progressive aerospace machine shop in Enfield, CT, has an immediate opening for an experienced Manual Machinist & Tool Maker in to support our state-of-the-art production facility. The qualified candidate will be primarily responsible for working in our manual machine & tooling department to conceive, develop fixtures, tools, and gauges at the direction of engineering and manufacturing requirements.

Manual Machinist & Tool Maker Responsibilities:

• Analyze complex specifications and blueprints to plan, setup and execute work assignments.

• Conceive, develop fixtures, tools, and gauges at the direction of engineering and manufacturing requirements.

• Follow safety procedures and perform housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean working area.

• Build, repair tools, gauges, and fixtures to specifications, working from prints, sketches, and verbal instructions.

• Operate a variety of manual tool room equipment including jib bore, jog grinder, bridgeports, lathes, honing and surface grinders.

• Perform machining functions while holding part tolerances to +/-.0001” and holding all other print requirements.

• Use measuring devices to verify part tolerances.

• Work with production department to develop or modify tooling.

• Occasional production work related to manual machining when required.

Manual Machinist & Tool Maker Skills/Qualifications:

• Must have 10 or more years experience in tool making
• Good working knowledge of all pertinent manufacturing procedures: inspection, manufacturing operations, tooling instructions and safety.
• Strong organizational skills and familiarity with 5S & AS9100
• Ability to solve broad scope of problems.
• Must be able to read precision measuring instruments, read and understand blueprints

Pay: $16.00 - $33.00 per hour
