Position Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, mine planning support for the Division, working with the operations management team and managing a team to develop short, mid-range and Life of Mine Plans for all operating quarries within the Division. Work with Corporate Land group to schedule necessary exploratory drilling at Division Locations. Monitor division blasting and develop expertise to assist operations with sequencing optimization. Review Grading Plans and volume estimates with operations management teams and develop a short and long-term schedule of overburden removal and storage needs.

Requirements

• Serve as manager of mine planning and have management responsibilities for mine planning team
• Perform short and long-term mine planning for open pit, sand and gravel, and drag-line operations
• Provide creative solutions to mine planning, overall site development and cost-effective options for operations management
• This position reports to the Vice President of Operations Services

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mining or civil engineering
• 5+ years of experience in mine planning, preferably in aggregate mining
• Experience in developing mine plans for drag-line operations
• Experience with geologic modeling, core log creation and interpretation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Surveying knowledge and skills; experience in mine planning utilizing the Carlson and MAPEEK Mining software
• Drone experience a plus
• Experience/familiarity with capital project management
• Superb time management and judgement skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; good planning skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing
• Thorough strategic thinking, manage and create easy to follow plans to guide both mining team and site for planning and development
• Project management and installation experience; experience in capital project management
• AutoCAD, GIS applications and Microsoft Office computer skills; knowledge and experience of Aggflow software a plus
• Out of town travel required, including international
