Defense contractor involved with product development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles in the Los Angeles International Airport area. With a 50+ year foundation, The Marvin Group supports all branches of the Department of Defense and allies around the globe on an array of programs and platforms. We support many military prime contractors including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties as assigned:
1. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment in identifying actual or potential problems in employee relations and legal situations. Emphasis is on the ability to counsel, recommend and implement programs to ensure the management meets statutory guidelines.
2. Responsible for overseeing the department HRBP’S ( Will have 3 -4 direct reports)
3. Support on Labor Relations matters related to Grievances.
4. Provides guidance and counsel and supports managers/supervisors in handling various disciplinary and termination actions.
5. Participates in disciplinary or termination proceedings.
6. Works with Leaders to develop and coordinate Company Training and Development programs (Human Resources Policies and Procedures, Leadership Development, Employee Safety, etc.)
7. Provides support and guidance to HRBP’s, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, disciplinary, and terminations.
8. Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly concerning current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning in support of HRIS Manager.
9. Ensures that state/federal requirements are followed, including company policies and procedures.
10. Ensures that company employment, safety, personnel, and equal opportunity policies and practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal and state labor laws, including maintaining files and bulletin postings.
11. Support Safety with OSHA Compliance requirements, including but limited to evaluating accident reports, ensuring timely processing of worker’s compensation claims, evaluating accidents to determine accuracy and completeness, and ensuring adequate investigation. Reviews accident reports to identify patterns of injury and to determine whether unsafe conditions contributed to the accident; advises departments of trends in injuries and proper safety procedures that may result in a reduction of injuries; provides
Department with information that will aid in reducing accidents and improving safety.
12. Develops and administers various Policies and Procedures and collaborates on updates to the Employee Handbook.
13. Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually claims records, reports, and logs to meet EEO regulations.
14. Consults with legal on various human resources matters.
15. Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of the department about established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve the department’s efficiency and services performed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Sound knowledge of all phases of Human Resources, including employee relations gained through (7) five to () seven years of experience as a generalist in a Human Resources
- Strong in essential HR Procedures, including Compliance, Recruitment, and Training.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish
- Experience with California and Federal Labor Laws.
- Experience in change management preferred.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, SAP, and ADP (or similar system).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Previous managerial experience is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources or a related field required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
- Physical Attendance is required - Remote is not optional.
