SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
Performs a variety of skilled tasks related to Electrical and Plumbing applications, as well as semi-skilled tasks in areas of support for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of District facilities. Must have at least 5 yrs. of hands-on experience with electrical, and plumbing concepts. Also, must be knowledgeable in heating, air conditioning, carpentry, and general maintenance applications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
General Maintenance Functions:
1. Electrical: High and low voltage concepts.
a. Fixture/s, lights, switch, and receptacle replacement/repair with experience with installing conduit and basic wiring procedures.
2. Plumbing: Fixture repair, basic piping, and sewer maintenance.
3. Carpentry: Framing, finishing and cabinetry.
4. Welding: Basic welding, brazing, and cutting.
5. Appliances: Familiar with commercial appliance repair, control systems, and refrigeration.
Special Maintenance Projects:
1. Planning: Development and design for maintenance projects.
2. Implementation: Acquire materials, complete work/installation as required to complete project.
Operation and Maintenance of District Electrical Services and Plumbing Systems:
1. Mechanical: Preventative Maintenance and repair of all HVAC equipment.
2. Inventory: Maintain accurate inventory of electrical and plumbing parts and supplies.
3. Major Repairs: Oversee repairs of all electrical and plumbing equipment with appropriate vendors.
4. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate comprehensive records of all electrical and plumbing services completed.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Troubleshooting of electronics and low voltage systems, including but not limited to:
- Fire Alarms, Clock Systems, Public Address Systems, HVAC Controls/BAS, Cable Television, and Scoreboards.
2. Load, unload, transfer and handle materials and equipment as required.
3. Assist in the inspection of contractors working on District projects/property.
4. Encourage a positive, mutually supportive office environment.
5. Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret written and verbal information. Must demonstrate effective communications with, and respond in a timely manner to, questions from school board members, administrators, staff, parents and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Able to solve practical problems and deal with several variables at once. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Required Skills and Abilities: Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
SCOPE AND IMPACT
This position accomplishes most tasks through standard procedure, exercising independent judgment when necessary. High-level contacts of a complex and confidential nature, both inside and outside the school district, are made. Internal contacts include district office staff, district administrators, teachers, and classified staff. External contacts include parents, community members, school board members, contractors and any other business or school related entities.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum high school diploma or other equivalent (GED, technical, trade school, or foreign equivalency). Advanced degrees, licenses, or certifications preferred. Minimum of three (5) years’ experience involving the responsibilities associated with maintenance.The following clearances must be provided upon hire and updated every five years in accordance with Act 153: PA State Police-Act 34, Child Abuse- Act 151, and FBI Fingerprint-Act 114. Child Abuse training (or proof of completion) in accordance with Act 126 upon hire and repeated every five years thereafter. A negative TB test is required upon hire.
This position requires knowledge of software such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, scanning, and various web-based applications.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL
Activities: Sitting 40%, walking/standing 60%, occasional lifting required up to 60 lbs., occasional squatting, kneeling, stooping, crawling as needed to perform maintenance functions.

Mental Demands: Ability to interpret, analyze, problem solve; detailed written and verbal communications
Environment: Moderate noise level; Exposure to hot, cold, dry, wet conditions, dust; Exposure to caustic/harmful chemicals and/or indoor and outdoor conditions

Pay: $18.07 - $28.00 per hour
