Maintenance Technical Specialist - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH
The Maintenance Technical Specialist is responsible for the control and accuracy of the maintenance department (MRO) spare parts inventory. This role will work closely with Front Line Managers, Technical Lead, Electrical Technicians, Mechanical Technicians, Reliability Engineer, and Maintenance Planner to ensure required critical spare parts for maintenance operations are on hand. This role also involved working independently and with others to assure accurate ordering and stocking of materials. Additionally, the Maintenance Technical Specialist will work with the Maintenance Planner with coordination of contractors and materials on maintenance projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtains quotes, submits purchase requests, receives material and stocks material critical to MRO maintenance spares.
- Conducts inventory counts to ensure actual inventory levels are correct with ERP system counts. Corrects inventory counts as needed.
- Pulls material and stages for preventative maintenance and other projects.
- Reviews spare part needs for new equipment with engineering and maintenance, develops spare parts needed reports.
- Submits requests for new materials to be added to the ERSA spare parts system in SAP.
- Maintains records and creates reports.
- Develop and/or updates procedures as necessary to support maintenance inventory activities.
- Performs spot purchases as needed for maintenance activities.
- Coordinate shipments of defective material to vendors for repair. Tracks status of this material and provides reports as needed.
- Interfaces with internal customers, external customers, and suppliers. Including but not limited to purchasing, receiving, and accounts payable.
- Assists the Maintenance Planner with coordination of contractors, equipment, and material for maintenance expense and capital projects.
- Develops and submits capital and abnormal request justifications as directed by the Maintenance Planner or Maintenance Superintendent.
- Attends meetings as needed for project planning and ERSA parts inventory control.
- Establishes maintenance service agreements with contractors as required.
- Reviews work orders and equipment PM's and proactively orders required parts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with inventory management, procurement, shipping and receiving processes in a maintenance MRO environment is desired.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong written and communication skillls.
- Experience with SAP, material inventory, and purchasing functions is desired.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office is desired.
- 8 years of relevant experience or 4 years of relevant experience in conjunction with an Associate's degree in a technical field.
