PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Hands-on position responsible for the daily supervision of the Maintenance Technicians to achieve optimal maintenance safety, quality, productivity and efficiency. This individual must be a team oriented, highly skilled self-motivated person with a high level of initiative, creativity, commitment and job management skills. They must work well with minimal to no supervision. They must have the hands-on technical and leadership skills to handle both performing and directing maintenance activities on all shifts.
Responsibilities:
  • Have exemplary personal conduct that demonstrates integrity, commitment, judgment and courtesy to all co-workers, customers and vendors.
  • Promote and support highest level of safety, both personally and with others, throughout daily activities. Leadership for optimal interface with Safety andEnvironmental Leader, and overall ownership of safety back-log.
  • Work to provide an environment of open, objective and honest communication within team, with other teams (supervisors and management) and acrossdepartments.
  • Perform annual performance evaluations for all Maintenance Technicians to help properly identify strengths, improvement opportunities and careerdevelopment initiatives. Understand training needs for maintenance technicians.
  • Manage and monitor shift coverage activities of all Maintenance Technicians to include appropriate staffing for the work, efficient shift-to-shift support,transfer of information, establishment and consistent implementation of “Best Maintenance Practices”.•Daily coordinate maintenance technicians to most efficiently support daily production needs, facilities tasks, support PM days, maintain and improvemaintenance systems. This includes assignment of specific personnel and their direction of efforts to complete scheduled tasks.
  • Works closely with the Planned Maintenance Specialist, Operations Management and Supervisors and Facilities Coordinator to most efficiently implementall (i.e. day-to-day, weekly and PM days) planned tasks.
  • Will daily monitor and review PM and work order completion for accuracy, quality and quantity of work completed and compliance with schedule. Monitoringwill include periodic auditing of work performed, both corrective and PM’s.
  • Will work closely with MRO Buyer to ensure optimal development and performance of the maintenance storeroom to include MaintenanceTechnician support.
  • Will work closely with Production Team Supervisors and Senior Lead Operators to ensure their needs are appropriately met and thatoptimal communication and teamwork exist between production and maintenance.
  • Monitor key plant equipment trends i.e. unplanned maintenance downtime to ensure best possible operation and reduction of planned/unplanned downtime. Responsible for teaching and sustaining accurate coding of equipment failures in Maximo and shop floor.
  • Facilitate the evolution/refinement of Maintenance activities (i.e. precision maintenance) to minimize planned and unplanned downtime(PM’s, changeovers, etc.).
  • Ensure that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can beaccomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. Work with all maintenance personnel to develop and consistently utilize propertechniques and methods to optimize maintenance efficiency. This includes having the optimal practices (i.e. precision mechanicalmaintenance), tools, and high quality execution.
  • Must answer off shift emergency breakdown calls. As needed, help diagnose causes of malfunctions, make necessary repairs andadjustments, repair or replace defective parts, and reassemble and adjust equipment to proper operating condition. Utilize the NashvilleMaintenance Learning Tree as a central point for collecting equipment information and learnings.
  • Possess and demonstrate the highest levels of technical skills, job management skills, initiative, commitment, creativity and teamwork.Must be proactive in time management as to minimize the occurrence of line downtime for equipment related reasons. This will at timesrequire initiative to work overtime to include coming into work on off shifts.
  • Must demonstrate good people, supervisory and communication skills.
  • Perform any similar or related duties as requested and work overtime to include your off days, occasional emergency breakdown call-ins,as business conditions require.
  • Manage department OT and be able to provide explanation when OT budget is exceeded.
  • Track “call ins” and after hour phone calls.
Qualifications:
  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology or relatedtechnical field is desired. Demonstrated capability,experience, and education may substitute for the degree.
  • Positive attitude & good work ethic
  • Must be able to work in team environment
  • Must have adequate training and experience to havedeveloped a strong understanding of electro-mechanicalequipment theory and computerized systems.
  • Must be familiar with the operation of various hand tools andelectrical test equipment.
  • Should have a good understanding of plastic processingequipment to include: extruders, blenders, winders, etc.Must also be familiar with office equipment to includecomputers, copiers, and fax machine.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Companypolicy and procedure manuals.
  • Adequate experience and training to have developed strongtroubleshooting skills of a mechanical and electrical nature.
  • A working knowledge of PLC, DC/AC drives, instrumentationand automated manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Must be familiar with Berry Global Quality Standards, ISO,QAKE and Berry Global Safety Standards.
  • Experience with TPM and Lean Manufacturing Principles is aplus.
