Responsibilities

The Precision Machinist will be manufacturing critical components for the support of productions machines using a diverse assortment of traditional and state-of-the art computer-controlled machines, we fabricate custom close tolerance parts economically, while meeting the high standards of quality our products require. This position is responsible for Roll grinding / Polishing repairing, and fabricating parts to maintaining process and support equipment, perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks related to machine parts, troubleshooting and repair mechanical issues related to production machine parts and roll alignment as well as the infrastructure at the Fieldale, Axton, PC, PFP, and PFW sites.

Shift:

This role will work a 4-10 rotational schedule.

7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. OT as required.


Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate in industrial Machine shop and 2 years industrial machinist level work. Or 5 years of applicable industrial Machinist and Mechanical experience.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Candidates must possess a strong mechanical aptitude along with some electrical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Diagnose problems in equipment and raw materials.
  • Communicate with other staff members to discuss machine problems; and develop solutions.
  • Previous experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, written instructions, procedures, and specifications.
  • A successful candidate must promote exemplary Environmental, Health and Safety culture by participating in weekly safety meetings, collaborating on job safety analysis, and maintaining good housekeeping/order and arrangement.
  • Must be able to weld various metals and complete metal fabrication.
  • Must be able to work with hand tools and maintenance shop equipment.
  • Must be able to use alignment equipment.
  • Solid works & or Feature cam software a plus.


Job Requirements

  • Must be able to operate lathes, roll grinding equipment and milling machine.
  • Demonstrate positive safety habits with a good safety and attendance record.
  • Must progress through the maintenance machinist training program as defined by the program.
  • Complete basic setup of CNC mills, lathes, and manual equipment.
  • Operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to produce parts in a consistent manner.
  • Must be able lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and be on call for after hour breakdowns.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment.
  • Continuously develop new skills and learn new processes.
  • Determine the best machining process for a given operation.
  • Read blueprints and diagrams to determine part dimensions and operating parameters.
  • Follow all safety rules, procedures, and practices to ensure their own safety as well as others.
  • Must be able to work from drawings with little or no supervision.
  • Inspects parts visually and dimensionally using inspection equipment.
  • Accountable for meeting cycle time and yield expectations.
  • Ability to simultaneously operate more than one machine as required.
