The Video Computer Vision org is a centralized applied research and engineering organization responsible for developing real-time on-device Computer Vision and Machine Perception technologies across Apple products. We balance research and product to deliver Apple quality, state-of-the-art experiences, innovating through the full stack, and partnering with HW, SW and ML teams to influence the sensor and silicon roadmap that brings our vision to life. We're looking for an exceptional machine learning manager/lead to provide engineering expertise and lead a small team of CVML engineers. Candidates should have broad technical skills including CV/ML and deep learning as well as experience in leading projects and teams and excellent communication skills.
Key Qualifications
- Experience in managing/leading small engineering team
- Experience in leading ML initiatives and proven record of shipping CVML based products
- Solid background in ML and deep learning with expertise in computer vision
- Strong coding skills in C++ or Python and experience in modern deep learning modeling and development using ML frameworks such as Tensorflow and PyTorch
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience in biometrics/face tracking/gaze tracking (preferred)
Description
As a manager, you will lead a small CVML engineering team to innovate and deliver effective, efficient and well-tested computer vision based solutions that are often deployed on edge devices. You will work together with similar minds where your expertise will influence future HW and user experiences in Apple products used by millions. We are looking for candidates with applied machine learning / deep learning experience and expertise in computer vision. An ideal candidate should have experience leading and supporting teams to develop CVML based solutions from prototyping to shipping.
Education & Experience
Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field+ 8yrs of relevant industry experience

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $155,500 and $269,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
