POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinic LVN is responsible for assisting the clinical team with patient assessment and care, as well as various administrative duties to ensure exceptional care of the patient. This includes but is not limited to: patient assessments, medication reconciliation and administration as directed by the physician, scheduling and coordination of diagnostic and referral orders, answering phones, registering patients and organization/preparation of patient charts for upcoming appointments. The LVN provides accurate documentation of all patient information and reviews relevant diagnostic testing for the physicians review. The LVN will assist the clinical team in patient rooms during procedures and exams, as well as provide patient information as directed by the physician. The LVN demonstrates overall investment in the forward movement of the clinic and organization. Applies excellent interpersonal and communication process by utilizing verbal and nonverbal skills to achieve patient satisfaction and a positive work environment. Ensures patient’s right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality is maintained. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with standards, policies, and safety regulations. Ensures compliance with infection control policies. Ensures exam rooms are clean and well stocked with supplies, checks for expired medication and supplies and necessary forms are available or services to be rendered.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates the ability to obtain vital signs, complete patient assessments and perform patient care as directed by the physician within the scope of practice as defined by the California Board of Vocational Nursing.
- Follows through with acquiring test results and/or ordering tests in preparation for surgery/procedures. Proper handling of lab specimens required.
- Assists the physician with medical procedures within the scope of practice.
- Follows protocol and procedure in the handling, storing and preparing of all clinical instruments. Proper technique used for preparing each instrument for sterilization.
- Assists with submitting authorizations and coordinating care as required for all diagnostic and referral orders. This includes making patient phone calls to notify of approved status and obtaining all results for clinic physician review.
- Provides patient education for procedures as ordered by the physician.

- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to the rights of patients and significant others, as identified within the situation.
- Appearing professional in clinic approved uniform, grooming and hygiene.
- Responsible to uphold the highest service standards regarding patient registration and scheduling. Acknowledging patients and guest with their requests, offering assistance promptly, cordially and completely.
- Utilizes excellent communication skills and maintains patient confidentiality.
- Must remain informed and compliant with HIPAA, EMTALA and The Joint Commission.
- Team Support
- Displays professional commitment and supports the clinic team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working environment.
- Assists in training of new employees and attends clinic staff meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the RN clinical manager.
- Responsible for understanding and participating in the organizational-wide Performance Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, performance improvement and quality planning activities.
- Assists front office staff with answering phones, scheduling patients, collecting data needed for billing requirements, surgery scheduling, return phones calls, lab result follow up and other various activities necessary for the efficiency of clinical flow.

- One-year experience as an LVN preferred.
- GYN and/or Oncology experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications

- A current LVN licensure in the State of California is required
- BLS certification required.

- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Spanish and/or Chinese language skills highly desired.

- Knowledge of how to handle exposure to blood, body fluids or hazardous materials.

The hourly salary rate range for this position is $20.46 - $26.86.
