LPN Nurse (Overnights 10p-8a) - NEW DETOX/STABILIZATION PROGRAM
Job description
*38-hour workweek. Current schedules available for the overnight shift (10p-8a) are MThF e/o/w or MTW e/o/w. Benefits include significant employer contributions toward monthly medical/dental/vision premiums.

Reports to: Nursing Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in New York State operating within the scope permitted by law. At least one (1) year prior experience desired with a focus in Substance Use Disorders preferred. Must possess current CPR/First Aid certification. Familiarity with crisis interventions, working with special populations, medication assisted treatment, and trauma-informed care are essential. Knowledge and/or experience in a residential healthcare setting desired. On-call assistance and weekend availability required to meet the emergent needs of the resident population. Phlebotomy certificate desired. Reliable transportation required; valid NYS driver's license preferred.
Nurses are part of an inter-disciplinary team and provide direct patient care in accordance with nursing standards under the general direction of the supervising physician. This role is responsible for completing nursing assessments, participating in the development of care plans under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, and implementing necessary nursing interventions in accordance with organization policy. Successful candidates will have a good understanding of principles and practices of community mental health nursing, problems and concerns as they relate to substance use, and application of current nursing procedures and techniques.
JOB DUTIES
- Adhere to NYS Office of Professions and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations;
- Support a compassionate environment by supporting the provision of emotional, psychological, and spiritual supports to residents, friends, and families;
- Observe, record, and report data relating to patient mental and physical status;
- Interview patients, collect and record data for admission or discharge;
- Conduct required clinical or nursing treatments;
- Administer immunizations, nursing care, and medications to residents in the programs;
- Assist to monitor overall physical condition of residents to promote a high quality of care;
- Follow medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations;
- Maintain medical and medication records;
- Adhere to program standards and supervising physician's orders;
- Conduct phlebotomy when ordered by a physician or APP, as competency permits;
- Prepare written reports on nursing activities;
- Record and report patient goals for consideration in their treatment/recovery plans;
- Collaborate with other care professionals to address client health care needs;
- Ensure that all areas are maintained appropriately for the health and safety of clients, staff, and other visitors;
- Ensure operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability, completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, requesting repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques;
- Maintain perpetual inventory of all medical supplies, sharps, medications, and controlled substances;
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, as needed, to ensure consistent, accurate flow of information, agency policies and safety procedures, and provide relevant perspective and recommendations as appropriate;
- Participate with staff and, as necessary, other services and agencies to assure the development, management, and implementation of comprehensive services for each resident, reflecting both substance use issues and other habilitation or rehabilitation needs;
- Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests, and participating in team problem-solving methods;
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies;
- Assist with contraband checks, as necessary;
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by monitoring confidential information processing;
- Other duties as directed and assigned.
Compensation: Competitive; $25.00-30.00/hr commensurate with experience;
