Basic Job Description

The Logistics Coordinator’s responsibility is to perform duties involving all phases of transportation. This includes ensuring the flow of goods in domestic and foreign commerce at the lowest cost while still providing levels of service required to meet customer needs.

The coordinator utilizes good knowledge of shipping and receiving in a manufacturing environment. Must have strong communication skills and is able to work as an integral team member.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to insure accuracy, completeness, and condition or shipments.

· Works with other departments to insure coordination of warehouse and shipping activities with regard to production, sales, records control, purchased items

· Coordinates activities of international traffic including all NAFTA Certification

· Record incoming and outgoing freight data, such as destination, weight, route-initiating and charges

· Analyze and review freight costs to achieve cost reductions in freight through best process methods

· Determines shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, outings, and rates.

· Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct

· Ascertain carrier rates and discounts and communicate to sales department as requested

· Ensures receiving reports accurately report material received. Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports

· Prepares and forwards various records and reports in a timely fashion

· Performs inventory audits

  • May Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

· 3-5 years of experience in shipping department

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

· Proficiency MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

· Knowledge of SAP software preferred but not required

· Knowledge of import/export procedures and international freight required

· Experience negotiating carrier rates and discounts preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications

· Hands on experience in a warehousing operation is desirable.

· Use of computer, record keeping and familiarity with GMP is a must

· Physical Demands – Normal Office Environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year

Schedule:
