Note: This position will be filled at the title/experience level commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate as compared to the minimum education and experience requirements listed below.


Perform all types of work involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities. Provide first response to trouble calls; investigate, correct and clear trouble, and provide assistance to construction and repair crews, as required. All items apply to overhead and underground, as applicable. Employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined below. The Line Servicer builds upon the skills, abilities and knowledge learned as a Line Mechanic A, Lineman A (or equivalent).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:

1. Analyze and take corrective action with respect to trouble calls on all types of transmission and distribution circuits and equipment.

2. Investigate trouble calls; patrol and inspect lines; locate, clear and repair faults on lines and equipment. Refuse line and transformer cutouts; repair and adjust street light control equipment; install and remove transformers, meters and services.

3. Coordinate and/or conduct complex circuit switching and restoration of service resulting from trouble calls.

4. Work with hot line equipment on energized circuits for emergency repairs or routine maintenance of facilities.

5. Independently interface with emergency forces, such as fire and police departments, to accomplish safe trouble call restoration.

6. Communicate effectively with customers and formulate a plan designed to serve their needs as well as the Company’s in resolving trouble calls. Inform customer if trouble is located in customer’s wiring or equipment; investigate radio and TV interference.

7. Install, remove, operate and maintain residential, commercial and industrial facilities, both overhead and underground.

8. Disconnect and connect meters; read in and read out meters.

9. Operate line switches; operate switches and replace fuses in stations; request, make and accept line and station clearances.

10. Perform similar or less skilled work.

11. Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.

Minimum Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: No experience required. Line work experience or line school education is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Employee shall obtain appropriate licensing as required by federal and/or state law prior to the end of the designated probationary period. Must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days.

Other Requirements:

1) Must have the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of the key job (Line Mechanic A) in this family and be qualified through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company.

2) Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the Company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression, or vacate the current job classification.

3) Successful completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) selection test is required for this position.
