(TRC) is an award-winning not-for-profit housing and supportive service agency serving the historical Bronzeville Community on Chicago’s mid-south side. We are searching for an inspiring and culturally competent life coach to facilitate our clients' transitions to fulfilling lives.
Position Description: This Manager facilitates, coordinates, and assists in The Renaissance Corporation’s efforts to rebuild lives of low and moderate-income individuals and families, and support the organization’s mission and goals by helping them become economically self-sufficient. The Life Skills Manager is a vital component of Supportive Services Team. This position will lead the area of civic and social engagement financial literacy, supporting mental and physical health, and other educational programs that enables, and promotes accountability and self-sufficiency. This position manages individual cases, facilitate specialized, training seminars, source information of best practice for the industry, help monitor and evaluate client progress, and make appropriate client referrals. The Life Skills Manager will uphold and support the rules and regulations for all TRC tenants, staff, and property.
Daily Duties:
- Provide individual and group counseling session designed to change behavior and motivate residents in developing a track of self-sufficiency. The manager leads in the areas of (civic and social engagement, financial literacy, and housekeeping). 55%
- Case Management: Documents residents progress within 48 hours of contact. 15%
- Maintain up to date activity records and complete end to the month paperwork as indicated in operation manual. 10%
- Act as liaison with Tenant Counsel to develop, maintain, and develop activities as source for resident lead monthly tenant monthly tenant newsletter publication. 10%
- Assist in developing and coordinating social, cultural and education activities with residents. 5%
- Source, develop and strategize to get tenants involved with their families and the community 5%
Specialized Knowledge of Skills:
- Non-judgmental, reflexive, and empathic
- Must have the ability to act in the capacity of a coach, mentor, facilitator, advisor, or a motivator.
- Must be organized and manage time in an efficient manner.
- Must have excellent communication skills (verbal/written), computer literate.
- Must be a Team Player with the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Must possess a valid Driver's license and have access to an automobile to use during working hours.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in psychology, social development, social service or similar or extensive history in this capacity.
- Experience working with, counseling of homeless/ex-offenders, substance abusers, mental health and/or the veteran population.
- 4-5 years of relevant experience in supportive services
- CADC license, preferred
- For many of these requirements, experience can substitute for lack of official credentials
Compensation:
Commensurate with skills, ability, and experience.
This position is full time, exempt with benefits.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $47,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
