This is a part-time (20 hours per week) position. Sunday availability is required as well as some evenings based on programs & activities.
The Life Enrichment Assistant is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating and directing of a wide and varied scope of activities and programming. These activities and programs meet the social and recreational needs of the resident population in accordance with Life Care Service’s eight dimensions of wellness model.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Works with the Life Enrichment Director and residents to plan, coordinate and direct a wide scope of social and recreational activities with the intent of including all residents in some area of activity.
2. Assists in arranging transportation to events and programs when necessary, including bus transportation and other vehicle transportation, scheduling community driver with the Transportation Manager or outside resource.
3. Creates, posts, and/or distributes information and material regarding events, programs, activities, etc.
4. Must have knowledge of computer, internet, and modern technology use such as iPads.
5. Inspects recreational equipment to determine repair and maintenance needs and cleanliness.
6. Conducts an occasional orientation for new residents.
Directs volunteer activities, enlists their support and coordinates their efforts; provides training and supervision of volunteers.
8. Serves as a resource person for residents.
9. Plans and coordinates activities in absence of the Life Enrichment Director.
10. Alerts social services staff of concerns pertaining to residents.
Other Duties:
1. Encourages residents to take an active part in the community and recreational programs.
2. Assists residents in determining the level and quantity of activity.
3. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
4. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum High School education with one-year experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration. Associate Degree preferred.
2. Ability to communicate effectively in English and perform simple arithmetic.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and computer skills required.
