Job Description

Aspirations, LLC is looking to hire Per Diem Licensed Social Workers to serve children and families who receive Early Intervention Services. The licensed social worker must have training and experience in Family Systems and demonstrate extensive knowledge about community-based resources in the counties they serve. Experience working with children who have disabilities and Infant Mental Health training/experience is a plus! Social Work in Early Intervention

Early Intervention Licensed Social Workers are able to provide a wide array of services for children and families. This document is intended to serve as an outline for some of the services that an EI Social Worker can provide to support EI children, families, and treatment teams. Social work services are specific to the needs of families and EI teams for the purpose of maximizing the efficacy of early intervention services; therefore, it is impossible to “list” all that an EI Social Worker can offer. EI Social Work service should be utilized only if the needs of the family cannot be met by the EI Treatment team or available community resources, although an EI Social Worker may be vital in connecting families with appropriate community resources.

Social work services within the EI program may include the following:

• Provide clinical case consultation in areas, which may include, but are not limited to, family dynamics, parent-child interaction, infant and adult mental health, child neglect and abuse/trauma, domestic violence, and crisis intervention.
• Provide clinical case consultation, caregiver support, and caregiver education for children who have experienced a change of caregiver. Social Workers can prepare the new caregiver for issues that may arise related to a child’s change of placement/caregiver and provide them the tools to be able to meet the unique needs of a child who has experienced separation, loss, and/or attachment issues.
• Work with EI Service Coordinators, EI service providers, and families in their efforts to identify, mobilize, and coordinate community services to meet the needs of the family. This may include helping to guide the treatment team through the BHRS processes, helping a family manage (and learn to manage independently) necessary medical appointments to care for a medically involved child, connecting families with appropriate support/informational groups and resources, and navigating the Medical Assistance application process.
• Help to support families in transition who find it difficult to effectively utilize EI services. Families in transition could include homeless families, significant change in family unit, divorce, out-of-home placement of children.
• Help to support families who are “at risk” with appropriate community referrals, short-term counseling, and distribution of information/materials. At-risk families can include families dealing with drug and alcohol issues, domestic violence, homelessness, physical/sexual/emotional abuse.
• Provide intensive training for families on Positive Behavior Strategies and Effective Parenting skills when these needs have not been met by other sources (community, EI teams, etc).
• Provide consultation services to EI teams related to mental health, family dynamics, and abuse/neglect issues/needs.
• Work with a variety of issues in the child’s and family’s living situation (home, community, daycare, etc, where EI services are provided) that affect the child’s maximum utilization of EI service.
• Provide direct service, which may include counseling/therapy for individuals or families when direct service can not be obtained in the community.

Areas of Counseling/Therapy may include:

Infant Mental Health Therapy(target caregiver/child relationship and attachment issues that negatively impact a the child’s development)

Family Therapy(target dysfunctional family dynamics that are adversely affecting the family’s ability to utilize EI services in order to help the child identified on the IFSP)

Grief Counseling(coping with a child’s diagnosis, other significant loss including loss of a loved one)

Play Therapy(help children process trauma, neglect, etc)

Individual Therapy(brief therapy to support caregivers learn to cope with anxiety, depression, and other issues that are negatively impacting the caregiver’s ability to adequately care for the child identified on the IFSP or to appropriately utilize and participate in EI services.)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $50.00 - $75.00 per hour
