SALARY:

$14.28 to $17.84+ per hour, the posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU’s compensation plan. RVU’s full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

BENEFITS:

RVU offers a full benefits package that includes Health, Dental and Vision insurance, along with 2 weeks (minimum) accrued paid vacation days per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, personal days, 13 ½ paid holidays and 401(K) match up to 7% based on employee’s contribution. A hybrid work model with remote flexibility is also available for eligible positions.

Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to support the mission of the library by providing excellent customer service, monitoring public areas, and ensuring the smooth operation of the circulation desk.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Monitor library entrance and public areas to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons.
  • Check items in and out of collection, and process new acquisitions to ensure they are ready for use.
  • Sort and shelve returned books and learning materials to ensure they are organized and easily accessible.
  • Answer basic reference and policy questions to help patrons understand library policies and find the resources they need.
  • Restock learning materials supplies as needed to ensure that resources are always available to patrons.
  • Assist with minor collection development tasks to ensure that the library’s collection meet the needs of the community.
  • Answer the telephone, manage photocopier use, and report problems with equipment as needed.
  • Complete opening and closing routine as specified on checklist.
  • Office administrative work, including staff scheduling, supply ordering, and project management.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director or their designee.
Marginal Job Functions:
  • Attend selected school functions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic word processing and data entry skills, with the ability to learn and use MS Office Suite including: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to welcome patrons, answer basic questions, convey messages, and report problems.
  • Basic technical skills, with the ability to recognize and resolve minor issues with printers and photocopiers.
  • Physical ability to lift 25 lb. boxes, maneuver book carts, and shelve books.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing equity, diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some College
  • Familiarity with library management systems.
