USEMCO Inc. is seeking a skilled welder with managing abilities and experience welding on mild steel or stainless steel to fill our Lead Welder role. As a Lead Welder you would provide leadership, instruction, and guidance to other welders in the work crew, while working in the capacity of a journeyman. Competitive Starting Pay: $23.00 - $26.00/hr., BOE

- Coordinate the work activities of the other welders in the absence of the Welding Foreman.
- Manage welding supplies and material needs.
- Work from assembly drawings, specifications, bills of material, and material specifications. Help interpret drawings and procedures for welding team.
- Work with welding staff to keep equipment in working order. Set and adjust welding equipment as needed.
- Plan and lay out erection procedures and perform set ups where burning, scarfing, grinding, straightening, forming, and reforming components is required to obtain proper fits, contours, alignments, and dimensional requirements.
- Perform all position welding on a wide variety of large weldments and structures, requiring a broad knowledge of welding technology and considerable welding experience.
- Position and fit up work utilizing cranes, hoists, or other positioning equipment.
- Inspect completed assemblies for dimension, contour, and alignment.
- Fill out proper documentation for ASME routing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education generally equivalent to 4 years of high school desired and 1 to 3 years related experience in welding operation and set up procedures. Should hold AWS and/or ASME welding certifications.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS A LEAD WELDER YOU SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS.
- Perform work from a ladder up to 20 feet off the ground.
- Skilled in both verbal and written communication.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using a calculator and use simple shop mathematics to set up and perform fabrication work.
- Must possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints.
- Read and comprehend simple instructions and written materials relating to welding set up and operation and safety procedures. Must be detail oriented, have manual dexterity and physical strength.
- Possess the ability to operate a wide variety of equipment such as hand tools, side cutters, welding machines, cutting torches and plasma, overhead and jib cranes, bandsaws, and grinders.
- Use tape measure, rules, square, levels, templates, and gauges to set up, fit and check work, and lay out jigs and fixtures.
