National Grid and National Grid Ventures is undergoing a digital transformation to enable innovation needed to reshape the energy system. We are rapidly building and expanding our product-first organization to support several new green-field product lines across our business units in low-carbon and clean energy. Candidates for this role will be motivated by our mission to make a cleaner and safer energy future, passionate about design thinking and digital ways of working, and excited to lead a product from its nascency. This role will be reporting to the Director of Product for National Grid Ventures and working alongside a Product Lead and our incredible colleagues in design, engineering, and business strategy. Additionally, we are supported by and will support both the transformation office and Chief Product Officer to educate, advocate and implement innovation throughout the company. We need you


What you'll do


  • Lead a cross functional Product team
  • Act as the voice of the customer in the definition of innovative digital solutions
  • Work with strategic design to gain an understanding of user personas, pain points and journeys knowing how that informs the roadmap
  • Provide insights into product, technology, and market trends
  • Develop feature lists, user stories, and roadmaps
  • Gather and manage product feedback through surveys, concept testing, analytics tools, and A/B testing
  • Monitor and report on product KPIs
  • Work towards the OKR's for your product and the team.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to scope, design, concept test and deliver innovative solutions
  • Assist with the development of business cases and operating plans
  • Assist in the development of materials to communicate progress to executives
  • Support the Product Lead to coordinate across different teams in the Product Line
  • Support the Director of Product, Chief Product Officer, and Transformation offices to advocate for innovation and digital ways of working

What you'll need


  • 7+ years working in a Product Management role
  • Experience leading larger product teams, delivering in a multi-squad product model
  • Experience using influence without authority in the broader organization to unblock product teams
  • A strong understanding of agile development methodologies and the software development lifecycle
  • A demonstrated and focused desire to build products and services that customers will love
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) as well as storytelling skills
  • The capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative and creative problem-solving

$167,000 - $235,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
