Lead Data Governance Analyst

We are looking for a Lead Data Governance Analyst to work closely with our broad data assets across the organization as we continue to develop our exciting new enterprise governance program. This role will be empowered to provide leadership and management of key governance activities related to metadata and reference data management for our oil pricing business unit.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Inspire and promote adoption by supporting the team vision and mission
- Discover, create and innovate new opportunities for data governance within the organization
- Collaborate with divisional leadership and internal colleagues to create a governance-centric culture
- Proactively seek out and incorporate feedback from the colleagues and customers
- Identify improvement opportunities that support business objectives
- Create KPIs on program success and achievements
- Perform application front-end work related to metadata management
- Create a business glossary of terms and identify all enterprise data assets
- Lead efforts as we begin to develop a Reference Data Management strategy
- Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the implementation of new metadata management processes, and to ensure that project requirements are achieved according to objectives and key results
- Translate technical business rules and ETL code to business language
- Ensure compliance to global policy and standards of data security/privacy levels
- Recommend and create additional policy at the divisional level to ensure best practices are followed for data quality, data governance, data lineage, data architecture, reference data, metadata and future master data management programs
- Become the subject matter expert with our metadata management software and lead implementation efforts, including training colleagues to leverage system capabilities
- Document data responsibilities & stewardship to enable accountability
Your Expertise
- Proven data management leader with a reputation for innovation and results
- Proven experience building a strong culture of governance
- Proven record of identifying and prioritizing governance needs to better serve customers
- Experience developing and coaching junior colleagues
- Technical capabilities to proactively improve processes and data quality
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational database concepts
- Data self-sufficiency – able to connect and interact with data natively from various systems including Oracle, Postgres and SQLServer
- University degree (Bachelors or equivalent) in Business Administration, Operations Management, Quality, Computer Sciences, or related fields
- 4+ years industry related experience
- Technical and/or business writing experience
- Proficient with the Data Management International (DAMA.org) body of knowledge
- Proficient in use of MS Office applications including Power BI
- Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud Platform experience a plus
- BI report and dashboard development a plus
