At the Department of Housing Stability, we are committed to support Denver residents as healthy, housed and connected. We invest resources, create policy, and partner with various organizations to help keep residents in the homes that they already live in, quickly resolve an experience of homelessness, and connect residents to new housing opportunities. To support these efforts, the department helps to:
  • Stabilize residents at risk of involuntary displacement and connect residents to housing resources
  • Support residents experiencing a crisis and connect them to overnight shelter, services, and short-term and permanent housing
  • Create and preserve existing affordable housing and connect residents at any income level to new housing opportunities
The Lead Compliance Associate will report through the Housing Opportunity Division. In this role you will develop program procedures, guidelines, and policies to achieve program goals for the Department and other City partners. You will lead in performing file audits of the multifamily projects to confirm our partners are complying with the regulations of the funding source or guidance.
As a Lead Compliance Associate on our team, you will evaluate and analyze program data, identify actual and potential problem areas, trends, and areas of imbalance. You will be a subject matter expert that is available to support our internal team, partners, and borrowers, as well as identify and assist in areas for improvement, clarity and expediency in our programs, training and procedures.
In addition, the Lead Compliance Associate will also:
  • Ensure program operates in compliance with departmental goals and objectives, pertinent laws, rules, and regulations, monitors federal, state, and/or regional regulatory changes
  • Resolve problems encountered during daily operations and determine standards for problem resolution
  • Determine when program rules and regulations need to be revised, and advises service providers, community groups, and clients on changes needed to comply with program criteria
  • Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, work to resolve issues quickly and effectively, have strong knowledge about department programs and regulations
  • Develop and analyze annual reporting for all portfolio projects to assure adherence to compliance and property regulations
  • Establish and interpret written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables
  • Implement policies, procedures, compliance regulations and more
  • Disseminate information to our partners on program regulation to ensure participants understand and can ensure properties are in compliance
  • Lead training sessions as a subject matter expert in person, online and in written format for our partners
  • Serve as a team lead, subject matter expert, and mentor
About You
Our ideal candidate will have some or all the following skills and expereince:
  • 5- 7 years of compliance expereince as it pertains to federal regulations and file compliance
  • Supervisory experience is desired but not required
  • Demonstrated expereince overseeing compliance to various HUD programs and the file compliance needed for them
  • Strong writing skills; detail oriented
  • Strong customer service background, ability to efficiently support internal and extremal clients; excellent problem-solving skills/solution oriented
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting reports and financial information submitted for occupancy compliance
  • Expereince developing and leading training curriculum pertaining to compliance and multifamily housing programs
  • Expereince processing Income Verification Applications with anticipated income calculation

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Management, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, or a related field
  • Experience: Three (3) years of professional or technical level experience planning the administrative aspects of a program(s) or training program participants and/or volunteers.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
