Job Description

The Lead MRI Clinical technologist directs the performance of MRI exams and is responsible for the efficiency, productivity and quality of work performed by assigned technical and ancillary staff during assigned shift(s). Is responsible for the day-to-day function of MRI Division and provides safety training to hospital support staff, and resolves MRI Program problems. Provides information for staff competencies and yearly performance assessments. Possesses expertise in use of all equipment in Clinical MRI Division. Responsibilities include development and implementation of procedures/protocols and policies, as well as care and maintenance of MRI equipment. Makes recommendations to the Clinical Manager or Director on changes in protocols, policies and /or procedures, and addresses personnel performance improvement. May perform all principal duties and responsibilities of MRI Staff Technologist. May be responsible to assume supervisory functions in the absence of a supervisor.

Minimum or Preferred Qualifications

AAS in Radiological Technology or graduate of approved ARRT certification program required. If Nuclear Med Tech, Bachelor of Science required. 3 years of experience in MRI Tech position required. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT – MR) required. One of the following is also required upon hire / transfer, Radiology Technologist, or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT R), or Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or Am Reg Of Rad Tech Nu (ARRT N), or NYS Cert For IV Contrast Admin within 90 Days of hire/transfer. ARRT-R & MR must remain current and active. If nuclear med tech must have ARRT MR, ARRT N and nuclear med tech registration. If MRI tech must have Rad tech, ARRT R, ARRT MR and NYS Certification for IV contrast. ARRT R & MR & N must remain current and active. Basic Life Support (BLS) 90 days from hire or transfer required. Existing Imaging Technologists as of 11/10/2020 will have until 8/31/2021 to obtain their BLS.
