A Laborer at HBI will perform the essential work of installing and maintaining the telecommunication lines that keep our communities connected! As a Laborer, employees are trained on the job to perform the following duties:

• Load/unload equipment
• Dig holes with shovels and picks, to locate existing utilities
• Prepare cable routes and feed cable and conduit
• Learn to safely operate a variety of equipment (backhoes, excavators, hydrovac trailers, core drills, concrete saws, etc.
• Safely secure the job site
• Complete restoration of the job site upon complete of the project (e.g.: adding topsoil, seeding, pouring new concrete)

So what makes this work physically challenging?

• Moving around on your feet for 8-10 hours
• Digging with a shovel to spot existing utilities and create trenches for placing cable
• Spooling and unspooling cable

Utility Construction Laborer Requirements:

• An insurance-acceptable driver's license required
