Job description

Under the supervision of the Administrative Director of Laboratory Services, authorized designee, and pursuant to Federal Regulations, clinical oversight by the Medical Director or appointed Pathologist, performs a variety of duties, including but not limited to assumption of responsibility in the Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QA/PI) program for Pleasant Valley Hospital (PVH). The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining a Quality Assurance/Continuous Quality Improvement Program for all sections of the laboratory including microbiology (bacteriology), chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, coagulation, immunohematology (Blood Bank), immunology and Anatomic Pathology. Ensures compliance with accreditation requirements and regulatory procedures including Joint Commission (JC), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), AABB, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA).
