Duties/Responsibilities – What You Will Do:

• This position will include various plant care opportunities
• Work with many agronomic crops that will be shedding pollen
• Work in greenhouse with high temperature and humidity
• Work independently, completing detail orientated research tasks
• Must be comfortable working with pesticides and various arthropods
• Mixing and applying beneficial organisms such as insects, and other arthropods
• Scouting for pest, beneficial organisms, and for checking plant quality
• Must be able to obtain Iowa Pesticide Certification for Greenhouse 3G within 30 days of hire

o Will be tank mixing and applying pesticides
o Will be spraying pesticides with spray suit and respiratory protection
o Will calibrate equipment to ensure proper application amounts

• Support watering and fertilization crops
• Mixing, cleaning and calibrating various fertilizer equipment
• Testing growing media quality
• Opportunities to support various plant care research

• High school diploma/GED.
• Attention to detail, and carefully follow standard operating and safety/ergonomics protocols.
• Must be able to obtain Iowa Pesticide Certification for Greenhouse 3G within 30 days of hire
• You have excellent communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, possess a positive attitude and work well independently as well as a team member with minimal supervision.
• You have good basic computer skills including experience with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), and are willing/able to gain competency with internally developed research software.
• You are willing and able to stand/sit for long periods of time, lift up to 30 pounds and perform repetitive work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year-round.
• You understand that delivering to our customers on-time keeps us viable and are willing and able to work a rotating shift and work overtime hours including weekend work required to support business needs.

Preferences – It Would Be Great If You Have:

• Previous experience in areas including but not limited to greenhouse plant care, agronomy, horticulture, gardening, or biology research. Interest in agronomic research desired.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Salary: $14.14 - $21.00 per hour
