Overview

Safety-Kleen Buffalo, NY is seeking a Lab Chemist who will be responsible for sample preparation, the analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties. This is a traditional, white lab coat position that offers no travel and a flexible schedule! We are looking for an experienced individual with good work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
• Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocols.
• Performs analysis of samples following prescribed procedures, with the ability to solve minor problems
• Will be responsible for facility ELAP program as technical director
• Calibrates and utilizes instrumentation
• Maintenance of equipment, suggests solutions to problems
• Completes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion
• Ensures that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines
• Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practices
• Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures

Key Qualifications:

• Must Have a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science (24 college semester credit hours in chemistry)
• 2 years' experience in environmental analysis.
• Some knowledge working with New York State ELAP Program preferred
• 2+ years’ experience in hands-on laboratory experience with GCMS instrumentation;
• Ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments/tests such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations;
• Superior organizational skills coupled with a strong attention to detail;
• Ability to work in a team environment.
