St. Thomas' Preschool and Kindergarten is a play-based program in Owings Mills, MD and we are seeking a qualified LEAD KINDERGARTEN TEACHER. Our mission is to support young children in reaching their full potential by providing a vibrant and innovative learning community. Lead Teacher: Qualifications / Requirements
- 4-year degree in Early Childhood Education / Elementary / MSDE Certification
- CPR/First Aid Certification is required (will provide financial reimbursement)
- Experience teaching in an early childhood setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to constructively direct the behavior of young children.
- Evidence of emotional maturity and stability.
- Evidence of sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations and use supervision constructively.
- Physical stamina relative to working with young children.
- Ability to recognize and record significant behavior.
- Evidence of warm, easy-going personality and relaxed friendly manner.
- Evidence of a sense of humor and creativity.
- Ability to use App software (currently our school uses Brightwheel) for student documentation and parent communication.
- Completion of 12 approved Professional Development credits per school year. (will provide financial reimbursement)
Lead Teacher: Job Description
- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program for the classroom. Lessons in Math, ELA, Social Studies, Art and Social/Emotional Learning should be in alignment with MSDE requirements and school curriculum.
- Prepare a weekly written Lesson Plan to be submitted to Director at school week’s end.
- Communicate regularly with parents about classroom activities, including a weekly email correspondence.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment, which includes the direct supervision of all activities to ensure the well-being and safety of each child.
- Arrange the classroom in an inviting and attractive manner.
- Prepare and maintain all materials necessary to your program, along with those materials in common areas.
- Organize a conference with all parents at least once per year to discuss their child’s progress.
- Attend faculty meetings.
- Participate in Professional Development.
