Our Lady of Mount Carmel School

Full-Time Kindergarten Position

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School seeks a full-time kindergarten teacher to serve the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. The ideal candidate will bring a history of collaborative, self-directed work to the Early Childhood team and have at least three years of teaching experience, preferably in Preschool and/or Kindergarten. In addition to outstanding teaching ability, the position requires expertise with the social and emotional needs of children in this age group and the ability to balance the encouragement of academic excellence and intellectual growth with the importance of learning through play.

Responsibilities
● Supporting and upholding the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School by adhering to the policies and procedures of the Diocese of Providence

● Establish and maintain a healthy and trusting learning environment, fostering nurturing relationships with students

● Design, plan and implement learning experiences for reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and religion

● Guide students in their social-emotional development, maintaining expectations and support for positive and productive student behavior

● Meaningfully integrate technologies into the classroom

● Regularly communicate with families about classroom happenings and student progress

● Update documentation of current curriculum, instruction, and assessment

● Maintain records of individual student progress and achievement

● Participate in the school community, including faculty and committee work, school duties, and activities such as clubs and events

● Meeting staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese of Providence and Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, including collaboration with colleagues, participating in faculty meetings, professional development, and other activities as required by the school or Diocese of Providence

● Performing other responsibilities as designated by the principals or pastor of the school

Requirements
● Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education/or related field

● Knowledge of child development, latest education theories and practices, and current trends in education and professional development

● At least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably Preschool/Kindergarten level

● Experience integrating the use of academic technology into classroom teaching
