K-8 Physical Education Teacher

Teaching Responsibilities:

• Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians and coworkers.

• Interact and communicate respectfully with all children, families, and colleagues.

• Effectively deliver, and in some instances design, developmentally appropriate physical education curriculum and instruction that reflects observations and goals of individual children.

• Establish a culture of high expectations and compassion for all children.

• Work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and response to student behavior.

• Keep the gym environment organized, attractive and safe.

• Collect and share with administrators Ohio Department of Education PE evaluations and data collection forms (found here: https://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Learning-in-Ohio/Physical-Education/Updated-Physical-Education-Standards-Evaluations-2)

• Passionate about urban education and our mission

• Highly qualified in physical education

• Receptive to feedback and desire to grow professionally

• Interest or experience in the Responsive Classroom, a student-centered, social and emotional learning approach to teaching and discipline

• Ability and interest in co-creating curriculum with students and colleagues while maintaining rigor.

• Intense desire to understand students and design engaging physical education instruction.

• Work ethic and desire to go above and beyond

• Commitment to use data to drive instruction

• Highly organized

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree

• Valid OH Physical Education Teaching License
