Description
The Junior Underwriter will be part of the Orien group, which is the stop loss operation of FAIRCO. Both FAIRCO and Orien are subsidiaries of TransRe. This role will support the Medical Stop Loss Underwriters in preparing new & renewal business proposals for the market, communicate with the field regarding quotes & in force business, and interact with other areas (claims, premium, policy administration) to ensure smooth transition of information. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Managing and downloading Request for Proposals (RFP’s) from email inbox
- Saving quote material and entering census details into underwriting system
- Communicating with TPAs/Brokers on missing RFP information
- Setting up Renewal material for underwriters’ review
- Requesting renewal information from producers
- Updating & maintaining aggregate claims data in system
- Providing administrative support as necessary (answering phones, ordering supplies, etc.)
- Backing up other functional areas as needed (claims, premium, policy administration)
- Other ad hoc assignments and special projects as needed
Requirements
- Experience with Medical Stop Loss underwriting
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, finance, or a related field
- Interest in growing within the insurance industry
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Organized, analytical, able to multitask and learn quickly
Work Schedule
TransRe is supportive of an agile work schedule, which may differ based on individual roles, your local office’s practices and preferences marketplace trends, and TransRe’s business objectives. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with approximately 4 days in the office per week, with the remainder of the week remote.
Compensation
In addition to base salary, for this position, TransRe offers a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity. The anticipated annual base salary range in New York City for this position, exclusive of benefits, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity is $70,000 – 80,000. This range is an estimate and the actual base salary offered for this position will be determined based on certain factors, including the applicant’s specific skill set and level of experience.
This role is classified as salaried non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA). The incumbent will be paid for hours worked and will also be eligible to receive overtime pay.
