Position Title: Janitorial Worker
Rate of Pay: $17.50 per hour
Position Purpose:
Performs a variety of janitorial and custodial duties and may assist in other maintenance-related activities.

Essential Functions:
- Cleans assigned buildings, offices and other areas throughout the fairgrounds and maintains facilities in a clean and orderly manner.
- Cleans and restocks restrooms with needed supplies.
- Empties, cleans and relines trash receptacles, and disposes of trash in compactor.
- Cleans guest tables and eating areas and removes trash from eating areas.
- May operate a trash compactor/baler as needed.
- May assist in unskilled general maintenance and repair activities, including plumbing, electrical and landscaping duties as needed

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience required.
- Good customer service skills and the ability to work well with others a must.
- Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.
- Must be available to work 5 days per week, on any shift (days, swing, graveyard) between mid-July and mid-August.
Preferences:
- Experience operating cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, and waxers preferred.
- Previous experience assisting with general maintenance and repair activities, including use of hand and power tools preferred.
- Familiarity with the layout and facilities of the OC Fair & Event Center helpful.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, talk and hear. The employee must frequently use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, using proper bending and lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.

Will work in a fast-paced, indoor and outdoor environment in all types of weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud, however louder noise levels may be experienced during outdoor events and when in larger event buildings.
