Job Title: Structural Welder - B
Reports to: Welder Leadman
Job Type: Hourly, Full Time Non-Exempt
SUMMARY: Structural Welds using a variety of processes primarily GMAW , FCAW.
REQUIRED COMPENTENCIES
Must be able to pass a welding test Per code AWS D1.1 / AWS D1.3 plate and sheet metal test for structural welding GMAW,/ FCAW
Produce quality welds as specified on prints
Proficient with WPS
Use standard welders tools and equipmenttape measure, needle scaler, pneumatic/electric grinders, torch etc.
Prepare components for welding according to specifications
Finishing / Grinding applications using necessary tools
Inspect welds and ensure conformance per code and layout
Repair welds if they are rejected by Q.C. dept.
Ability to work by themselves and or with a partner if needed
Other duties as needed assigned by supervisor
DESIRED ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must operate forklift
Have experience with overhead crane and other material handling equipment to manipulate work pieces
Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position
Keep work area clean
Performs general daily maintenance task of checking of welding equipment
Fill out inspection reports
Follow company safety & security guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
DESIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in structural, sheet metal welding with GMAW, FCAW
Familiar with material handling equipment
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
3-5 years experience required
1G, 2G GMAW ,FCAW
Fitting skills is a plus
Experience welding sheet metal material (12gauge) on to thicker material (up to )
Experience in welding materials thicker than 3/8
Accustomed with weld symbols and blue print reading
Familiar with arc gouging
Own necessary tools not provided by the company
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee may be required to do the following: climbing into and out of equipment; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, fingers and feet to operate tools and equipment; lifting up to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction. The employee is frequently required to be in different postures while performing these job duties (kneeling 25%) (sit 5%) (stand70%). The employee is expected to lift or move materials (10% of workday)
