Job Summary:


The Information Technology (IT) Program Director serves as the primary IT contact and provides IT leadership for the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS). This position requires managerial experience, project management skills, and advanced technical knowledge of multiple technologies and technological applications. This includes providing oversight and direction for the Senior IT professional position, who is responsible for all computer support services, including hardware and software troubleshooting and problem solving, server support and patching. This position will also serve as the primary liaison to the Anschutz Medical Campus central OIT. As the liaison to central OIT, this position will advocate for technology needs of the school and identify technology solutions available through the university and those adopted by other health sciences schools that may have utility for the SSPPS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The primary focus of the position is to oversee the IT department/office of the school. While this position will provide oversight of the IT team, they will also provide hands-on support on a day-to-day basis.
  • The IT department/office provides oversight of computer equipment in use at the SSPPS, including personal computers (both Macintosh and PC devices), servers, and local area network.
  • Interacting with end users to determine problems, analyze situations, identify the source of the problems, determine appropriate solutions, and take proper actions required to solve the problems.
  • Other responsibilities of the department/office include faculty and desktop support, user training, software and hardware upgrades and maintenance, disaster recovery and data security.
  • This position is responsible for developing school IT and data related governance, policy, procedures, and communications. They also serve as the liaison between the school and the Office of Information Technology. As required, they represent the school on campus-based IT governance committees.
  • This individual will understand the IT needs of the school, including both academic and research enterprises.
  • The individual will identify software solutions available on campus, those adopted by other health sciences schools, and/or used in adjacent industries that may have utility and improve efficiency within SSPPS.
  • This position will collaborate with Assistant and Associate Deans, Directors, and Managers within the school to build operational effectiveness and process improvements.
  • This position will recruit, hire, train, and manage student IT support workers.

Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Four (4) years of extensive, diverse, and progressively responsible experience at the management level, including direct responsibility for financial and data analysis as well as project management.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree with an emphasis in project management, operations, computer science, information technology or similar field.
  • Experience with audiovisual and web conferencing systems.
  • Experience in the management of large-scale, complex projects.
  • Experience with managing staff in a higher-education setting.
  • Experience working with data storage, querying and reporting.
  • Experience providing technical training and support to others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Experience working with Access, Excel, and other Microsoft Office programs.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently.

Anticipated Pay Range:


The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $90,054 - $114,549.

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
