Job Summary
This Student Worker position provides the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of information technology. As an IT Asset Management Student Worker, you will perform IT asset management activities from receipt to end of useful life.
These tasks include but are not limited to:
- Follow MNIT processes when receiving sensitive IT assets, coordinate the deployment of IT assets, and resolve asset management issues that are communicated through HELIX's Incident Management Console.
This position will oversee the management of all IT assets for the state of Minnesota and ensure MNIT complies with the Audit requirement as stated in the State of Minnesota Property Management Policy and User Guide.
This position requires some travel to State of Minnesota office locations throughout the Metro area. Estimated travel is 10%. A valid driver's license is required.
- Please note that this is a limited, part-time, 20 hours per week position that is anticipated to last up to three (3) years.

Education:
Student Worker Eligibility -
To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional, you must be enrolled in a secondary (high school), post-secondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
- Academic programs can include Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related program.
- Through formal education or work experience, the incumbent is expected to have knowledge or experience in a Windows Environment.
- Experience in customer service.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to translate technical information for non-technical staff.
Excellent customer service skills.
Good organizational skills, ability to work independently, and excellent written and verbal skills.
Physical Requirements
Requires moving/lifting devices such as desktops, monitors, laptops, and miscellaneous equipment from multiple locations (Desk to desk or from one agency site to another), lifting devices up on to storage shelves (Above head (40 lbs.) and being able to gain access under desks (crawl).
