Position Summary


This member of the IT Strategic Planning, Portfolio, and Governance (SPPG) team will work collaboratively with the Delivery team to lead the IT Project Management Office (ITPMO) to ensure timely and quality delivery of projects. The individual must be able to understand the IT Strategy and the modern Ways of Working required to implement it, the importance of the Project Management Office (PMO) and leverage the PMO to improve delivery of operations and add value to the Corporation.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for improving project management processes, standards, and methodologies. They will also be responsible for providing guidance and support to IT project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with organizational standards.

The individual should understand the concepts and methodologies around Integrated Demand Management and use it to forecast and plan how to meet demand for services and products in order to improve the connections between operations and business liaisons and create a tighter coordination of strategy, capacity and customer needs.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Enhance and implement project management processes, standards, and methodologies
  • Define and manage project management policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Prepare IT Portfolio Reviews and establish KPIs to assess the health of the IT portfolio
  • Provide onboarding and continuous learning opportunities to the IT delivery teams; Hold project teams accountable to following standards
  • Integrate capacity management as part of project approval processes.
  • Assist in managing the IT Project budget, in order to identify budget gaps and forecast deviations from estimated spend.
  • Work closely with Strategy, Performance, and Transformation team to identify inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement to the overall process.
  • Understands principals around both waterfall and agile project delivery and provide subject matter expertise and guidance on best practices for both.

  • Leverage differing skillsets and experiences of team members to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts and instill a positive, constructive, and collaborative culture across the team.
  • Build relationships with Hess IT, business stakeholders and delivery partners to seamlessly deliver IT solutions.
  • Facilitate working sessions of medium to large-sized groups across all levels of the organization.
  • Coordinate with Strategic Planning & Performance team on Change Management best practices
  • Manage stakeholders at all levels (including senior leadership) and works with multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Help create a highly productive, professional, partnership-focused, value-driven culture.
  • Strong ability to influence without authority and leverage differing skillsets and experiences of team members to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts and instill a positive, constructive, and collaborative culture across the team.


Qualifications


Education, Training, & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, Information Technology, Operations Management, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • PMP or Agile certification preferred.
  • ITIL certification preferred.
  • Experience in oil and gas preferred.


Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience delivering IT / Technology projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Planning and Portfolio Management, at least 3 years of which are in project governance, portfolio management and use of tools.
  • Experience leading small teams and directing work is preferred.
