Position Summary


Serve as the Operational Lead for the Cloud Platform with a core focus on cost effective operationalization of various platform processes and resources. Develop cloud-first based on approved standards, procedures, and in alignment with our multi-year IT strategy. This role will be a leader and play critical function in our transition to “software defined infrastructure”. A successful candidate will enable our application development & integration teams to efficiently deploy digital products to our business partners. The architectural foundational element will be constructed on enabling safe, cost effective & reliable operations while providing the organization the capability to take advantage of hybrid cloud compute benefits (scale, agility, reduced costs). Successfully working with multiple IT stakeholders (IT Cloud Advisor, Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, Planning, Application & Data Teams) is needed to successfully embed and operationalize hybrid cloud compute benefits within the organization.


Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Optimize Operations
    • Develop, promote, and maintain an infrastructure as code mentality across service provider, infrastructure, and application teams.
    • Ensure operational lead to run and support secure, reliable, scalable cloud resources to support both our business partners and our internal application development & integration teams.
    • Stay up to date with Azure and on-premises future and current capabilities.
    • Review and authorize change requests from service providers.
    • Focus on operationalizing Cyber Resiliency and Disaster Recovery.
  • Cost Management
    • Review cost estimates for new cloud infrastructure.
    • Capture billing details for new cloud infrastructure.
    • Execute monthly cloud infrastructure recharge process.
    • Work with application owners to ensure platform costs as monitored and managed within budget.
    • Work with service provider to continually drive inefficiencies out of the system.
  • Contribute to and operationalize our strategic platform roadmap and maintain alignment with governance teams:
    • Enterprise Architecture
    • Cyber Security
    • IT Cloud Advisor
    • IT Service Management
    • IT Planning
  • Work with Service Providers to
    • Cultivate strong relationships and a high performing team.
    • Maintain platform governance.
    • Review and ensure runbooks are current and relevant.
    • Maintain hardware, service and software lifecycles and asset refresh.
    • Drive automation and standardization and consistent use of process across IT to ensure cyber compliance and cost management are built across the growing platform.

Experience:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Preferred 10+ Years – Information Technology
  • Preferred 5+ Years – Infrastructure operations
    • Broad experience of running the core IT operations and processes – Compute, Network, Storage, Cyber, Database, Backups, Monitoring, Cost Optimization, Audit
  • Minimum 3-5 Years
    • Azure
    • Azure IaaS, PaaS operations
    • Azure cost management
    • DevSecOps processes and pipelines
    • Experience with DevOps and Infrastructure as Code toolsets
      • Ansible
      • Terraform
      • Azure DevOps
      • GitHub
      • Powershell
  • Desired:
    • Application development experience,
    • Experience working with an ISP or MSP.
    • Azure Certifications (AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-204).
